Job summary

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join a dedicated oncology team. The APP will assess, diagnose, and manage cancer patients across outpatient and satellite settings, delivering expert care with autonomy and physician collaboration.

The role emphasizes education for patients and families, leadership in program development, and active participation in interdisciplinary teams within a mission-driven cancer care environment.

Qualifications

• MSN in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Nurse Practitioner program completed.
• Current RN licensure and registration with the Illinois State Board of Nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
• BLS/CPR certification required.
• 1-3 years of post-MSN experience preferred, ideally in oncology or a related specialty.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert oncology care including assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and symptom management.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions related to cancer and its treatments.
• Perform procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and manage oncology emergencies.
• Provide care at satellite clinics with autonomy and physician collaboration.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and side effects.
• Serve as a key liaison between patients, families, physicians, and clinic staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.
• Develop and deliver educational programs for patients, families, and staff.
• Mentor nursing staff and contribute to continuing education initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Lead APP to identify and address knowledge gaps.
• Direct strategic planning of Advanced Practice Provider Program to promote continued growth and value to the practice.
• Advocate for the role of APPs within the organization and the broader healthcare community.
