The Role
As a People Onboarding Specialist, you will be the first to support the growing number of employees joining the FreshDirect family. You’ll focus on getting employees to complete pre-hire processes, understanding background requirements, owning the pre-onboarding compliance and credentialling processes, and scheduling new hires for orientation. As our ideal candidate, you are empathetic, customer-centric, have great written (email) and verbal (phone) communication skills, and are very detail oriented. Excel proficiency is a MUST for this role.
What You’ll Do
- Craft and send emails with information about the company and position, including orientation schedules, and dress code.
- Supports all aspects of pre-employment and on-boarding activities inclusive of pre-employment testing, I-9 processing, IDs, and entry of new hires in the company’s HRIS system etc.
- Coordinates and maintains all aspects of the pre-employment verification process and monitors applicant status via business partner’s website.
- Prepares and lead employee onboarding experience assessing background requirements, compliance/ credentialling documents
- Proactively monitor all open onboarding cases and provide guidance to the team on all activities
- Partner with cross-functional vendors including background companies/ client vendors/ third party IT vendors
- Extreme attention to detail, ensuring compliance deadlines are managed and organized correctly
- Identify and report issues within the employee experience
- Compile and update employee records
- Prepares, audits employee and DOT files and collects offer letters, I9 form, EVerify, payroll forms, and company policy manual acknowledgement
- Collects and stores interview guides and interview rating grids
- Prepares and files all new hire employee folders
- Consistently lead and/or participate in projects and initiatives related to HR and Recruiting.
- Works collaboratively with outside Business Partners that the company partners with to ensure workforce planning goals are met
- Responsible for building relationships with outside partners and sources and representing FD at job fairs
- Enters and maintains requisition data on Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Compiles new hire packages when needed
- Conducts pre-employment verifications including references.
- Composes correspondence and documents
- Maintains metric reports and create and maintain recruitment reports and create related reports
- Expected to utilize knowledge of policies, procedures, and organization to solve routine and non-routine problems or questions.
- Other special projects or assignments may be assigned
- Assist in other Human Resources tasks as needed
What You Bring
- Experience in HR onboarding, preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience and education
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including strength in using Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical, communication, and organization skills
- Problem-solving skills – ability to develop solutions
- Strong organizational skills

- The expected compensation for this role is [$57,174 - $63,000] per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
