Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

The position emphasizes safety, field reporting, and coordinating crews while traveling extensively across assignments. The role requires proficiency with tablets and smartphones, strong communication, and the ability to travel for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Requires proficiency with tablets and smartphones for coordination.
• Must communicate clearly in verbal and written form.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods; months at a time.
• Valid driver's license and HS diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' railroad maintenance of way experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety such as derails, track signs, and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Maintain radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews.
• Conduct mandatory briefings with all crew before entry to track.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
