Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to deliver essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

The role requires coordinating train movements with tablets and mobile tools and demands strong communication and travel readiness. The EIC will set up safety measures, prepare daily field reports, and maintain site safety through clear briefings and strict policy enforcement.

Qualifications

• Requires proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to support coordination of train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods; sometimes months at a time.
• Valid Driver's License
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company (preferably in maintenance of way)

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety such as setup of derails, track signs, and other safety tools
• Prepare daily field reports and report on any rule violations
• Provide job-site coordination
• Radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate worksite safety status
• Conduct mandatory clear, concise, and thorough job briefings with all crew members before they enter the track
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies
