Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

Travel is a major component of this role, with 50% to 85% of time spent on assignments in the field. The EIC will oversee safety measures, coordinate with dispatchers and crews, and ensure compliance with Railroad, State, and Federal policies.

Qualifications

• Requires proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to coordinate train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
• Willingness to travel for extended periods, including months at a time.
• Must have a Valid Driver's License and a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety, including setup of derails, track signs, and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report any rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination and radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews.
• Conduct mandatory clear, concise job briefings with all crew members before track entry.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.
