Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to deliver essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, and state DOTs. The role requires coordinating train movements, safety briefings, and adherence to safety policies.

The position involves extensive travel (often 50%–85%), requires a valid driver’s license, and a high school diploma or equivalent. NRSS offers competitive hourly compensation and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and coordination tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel for extended periods, sometimes months.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum of 2 years' railroad experience preferred in a maintenance of way role.
• Ability to complete required safety and client trainings.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety measures (derails, track signs, safety tools).
• Prepare daily field reports and note rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination and safety oversight.
• Maintain radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews for safety status.
• Lead clear and thorough crew briefings before track entry.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
