Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge to deliver critical on-track safety services for freight rail and transit systems. The role emphasizes coordinating train movements from field sites and reporting daily safety and rule compliance.

Travel is extensive, with strong communication and training requirements. The EIC will lead safety briefings, enforce policies, and maintain safety records across the rights-of-way.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones and comms tools for train movement coordination.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail with good organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years in a railroad environment (MOW preferred).
• Able to complete required training.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety: setup derails, track signs and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and flag rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Radio contact with Dispatchers/Train Crews for safety.
• Conduct clear, concise pre-entry crew briefings.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
