Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge (EIC) to deliver essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail partners in Valparaiso, IN.

The role requires setup of safety infrastructure, detailed field reporting, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards while coordinating with train crews and dispatchers. Expect substantial travel and strong leadership duties.

Qualifications

• Requires proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to coordinate train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills is required.
• Must be able to travel extensively (50%–85% travel).

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety such as setting up derails, track signs, and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report any rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination and radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews.
• Conduct thorough job briefings with all crew members before track entry.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
