Job summary

General Dynamics - Bath Iron Works is seeking an on-site structural engineer to support hull structures of DDG51-class warships, within a dynamic, high-energy environment.

You will perform structural analysis using Finite Element methods and traditional hand calculations, assess foundations, hangers, and equipment supports, and work with the Integrated Process Team to resolve on-site issues.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Civil Engineering with structural focus.
• Experience with structural analysis of hulls and ship components is preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site structural engineering support for hull structures (DDG51 class).
• Perform Finite Element and hand-calculation analyses for primary/secondary structures, foundations, and outfitting.
• Assess pipe hangers, electrical supports, and vibration predictions; ensure compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with Integrated Process Team and customers (NAVSEA, etc.) to resolve issues.
• Promote safety, implement BOS improvements, and support OPIP.
