Job summary

Public Utility Provider in Upington, Northern Cape seeks a Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Technician to ensure continuous operation and maintenance of plant equipment. You will inspect, repair and service pumps, filters, valves, dosing systems and monitoring equipment.

The role requires mechanical and electrical skills, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work 24/7 shifts when needed. On-site position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Proven mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Basic understanding of water treatment processes is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Commitment to safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment such as pumps, motors, valves and pipelines.
• Inspect equipment for wear and identify potential issues before failure.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Assist with installation of new equipment and components.
• Operate and monitor plant equipment for optimal performance.
• Keep plant facilities and workshops clean and organized.
• Follow safety procedures and regulations for operations and maintenance.
• Maintain logs of maintenance, repairs and parts used.
• Assist with water quality testing and monitoring as required.
• Respond to operational alarms and emergencies as directed.
