Job summary

GOODWILL CENTRAL COAST in Seaside, CA is seeking a Training & Development Associate to provide on-site training for WDS and DGR staff at designated retail stores. The role develops hard and soft skills and ensures clear communication across departments.

The position emphasizes coaching, performance assessments, safety, and adherence to Goodwill policies, with focus on empowering employees facing barriers to employment. High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Two years of experience in a donated goods environment (retail or production) or equivalent.
• One year of supervisory or lead experience.
• Experience working with individuals with obstacles to employment.
• Familiarity with electronic cash registers and POS systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and support to WDS and DGR employees through programs such as CalWorks.
• Document performance through weekly assessments; address issues with employees and Employment Services Specialist.
• Greet store customers; offer assistance and suggest product selections.
• Ring up sales on cash register and follow cash handling procedures.
• Display inventory on sales floor; straighten and rearrange merchandise to improve appeal and safety.
• Assist with stock rotation and markdowns; prepare store donations and rotate merchandise for transfer.
• Communicate problems, complaints, theft and safety issues to Store Manager and Training & Development leadership.
• Ensure completion of in-store training for WDS and DGR employees.
• Set work schedules with the Store Manager; assign tasks to WDS staff.
