Job summary

Symbotic LLC is seeking a System Engineer to support the reliability, availability, and performance of our automated warehouse systems in a live production environment. This hands‑on role centers on system health, equipment reliability, and technical execution on site.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent hands‑on experience) and 1+ year in PLCs, VFDs, and motor diagnostics, plus experience with automated systems and CMMS (Maximo).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 1+ year hands‑on experience with PLCs (prefer Allen‑Bradley), diagnostics & troubleshooting.
• 1+ year experience with VFDs and drive issues.
• 1+ year experience with AC/DC motors.
• Hands‑on experience with automated systems (conveyors, lifts, motors).
• Experience with autonomous or semi‑autonomous systems (conveyors, AS/RS, robotics).
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, and Linux for diagnostics and logs.
• Strong hands‑on experience with robotics and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Prior maintenance/automation maintenance or lead maintenance technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor health of automated systems—conveyors, lifts, robotic vehicles, motors, sensors, PLCs.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and automation issues impacting production.
• Diagnose PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, and control hardware failures.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment.
• Use data, alarms, logs, and dashboards to identify faults and recurring issues.
• Document maintenance activities in CMMS (Maximo) and internal tools.
• Serve as senior technical escalation during disruptions or downtime.
• Coordinate with maintenance, operations, and tech teams to restore performance.
• Provide on‑the‑job guidance to technicians and operators.
• Support critical on‑site technical functions to maintain uptime.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, electrical safety standards.
