Job summary

Pima Medical Institute in Tucson seeks a Student Champion to lead student success at the campus. You will be a trusted advisor, helping students overcome personal and academic barriers and connecting them with tutoring, housing, childcare, and financial aid.

Responsibilities include monitoring SAP, advising, coordinating with Admissions, Financial Aid, Career Services, and Faculty, and leading Orientation and recognition events. Bachelor's degree preferred and 3 years advising experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience).
• Three (3) years of experience advising students in a post-secondary education environment.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and active listening abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze academic and attendance reports to ensure students maintain SAP.
• Advise students regarding academic performance, attendance concerns, and programmatic requirements.
• Connect students with internal and external support services, including tutoring, childcare agencies, housing assistance, and financial resources.
• Assist students in navigating personal challenges that impact their educational persistence and success.
• Guide students through navigating campus electronic resources, student portals, and learning tools.
• Process Change of Status forms for reschedules, SAP warnings, attendance/conduct alerts, Leaves of Absence (LOAs), withdrawals, and terminations.
• Ensure strict compliance with applicable Federal, State, and accreditation regulations, serving as a campus resource for institutional policies.
• Resolve student conflicts, address conduct issues, and enforce disciplinary procedures when necessary.
• Collaborate with Admissions, Financial Aid, Career Services, and Faculty to address student needs holistically.
• Lead and coordinate New Student Orientation programs; assist the Campus Director in planning student appreciation, graduations, and monthly recognition events.
