Job summary

FA International Stone Company in Santa Ana, CA, seeks a Stone & Tile Project Engineer responsible for coordinating project engineering from pre-construction through installation, reviewing drawings, developing shop drawings, and ensuring technical accuracy for stone and tile systems.

You will plan project scopes, sequence work, and collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, suppliers, and clients to maintain schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of natural stone, porcelain, ceramic tile, setting materials, substrates, waterproofing, and installation systems.
• Strong Project Engineering & Planning skills for coordinating technical details, shop drawings, and construction sequencing.
• Solid Project Management to oversee timelines, budgets, documentation, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication with general contractors, architects, and on-site teams.
• Experience with shop drawings, takeoffs, submittals, RFIs, and project documentation.
• Beneficial: experience in stone and tile construction and reading architectural/construction drawings.
• Proficient in CAD or Bluebeam; strong problem solving, attention to detail, and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings, specifications, elevations, details, and finish schedules for stone and tile scopes.
• Prepare and review shop drawings, material submittals, samples, mock-ups, and installation details.
• Coordinate project requirements with architects, designers, general contractors, subcontractors, fabricators, and installers.
• Verify dimensions, site conditions, layouts, elevations, joints, transitions, edge details, and installation requirements.
• Develop material takeoffs and assist with quantity calculations, procurement, and material ordering.
• Coordinate fabrication requirements, including slab selection, vein matching, bookmatching, edge profiles, CNC fabrication, and field measurements.
• Review and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and technical documentation.
• Conduct site visits and field measurements to identify potential conflicts and ensure proper installation.
• Monitor project schedules and coordinate material deliveries with fabrication and installation schedules.
• Assist Project Managers with budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and project closeout.
• Troubleshoot technical and installation issues and recommend practical solutions.
• Inspect completed work for compliance with approved drawings, specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with installation crews to resolve field issues and maintain project quality.
• Maintain organized project records, including drawings, approvals, correspondence, RFIs, submittals, and change documentation.
• Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
