Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Staff Accountant for our in-person team in Torrington, CT. This role supports day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, reconciliations, and accurate financial reporting in a deadline-driven environment.

You will handle AP/AR, GL activity, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and assist with year-end processes. The position offers competitive pay ($30–$35 per hour) and a comprehensive benefits package within a stable construction-focused organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 3–5 years of general accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
• Proficient in accounting systems (Great Plains, QuickBooks, Sage, JDE).

Responsibilities

• Support daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger activity.
• Prepare and review financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare year-end workpapers to support audit and tax return processes.
• Record, review and maintain accurate financial transactions and classifications.
• Prepare and post journal entries and complete month-end and year-end close activities.
• Reconcile bank, intercompany, inventory, fixed asset and other balance sheet accounts.
• Maintain fixed asset records and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and file required state and federal tax filings and assist with tax compliance.
• Maintain accounting system data integrity and assist with ad hoc projects.
