Job summary

Cogent Analytics in Connecticut is seeking a highly driven Staff Accountant with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 5+ years of hands-on experience. This role focuses on building and managing an inventory tracking system as we scale and will own full-cycle accounting.

You will oversee document control, implement inventory processes, manage GL/AP/AR, and provide payroll support and timely reporting. A practical, no-nonsense approach to finances is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction or manufacturing background preferred.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, ADP, and Excel for bookkeeping and reporting.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently as a sole accountant.

Responsibilities

• Sole Accounting Ownership: manage full-cycle accounting independently.
• Document Control & Compliance: maintain immaculate records and audit readiness.
• Inventory Implementation & Oversight: lead inventory tracking system setup and counts.
• General Ledger & Financial Operations: manage GL, AP/AR, job costing, month-end close.
• Systems Utilization & Payroll Support: use QuickBooks, ADP, Excel; assist with payroll tasks.
• Financial Integrity & Analysis: analyze data and present actionable insights.
• Cross-Functional Team Support: support other departments as needed.
