Job summary

SLSCO LTD is seeking a qualified Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support NAVFAC design-build construction projects in Hawaii. The SSHO will implement, enforce, and continually improve the SOH program in compliance with EM 385-1-1, UFGS 01 35 26, FAR 52.236-13, and NAVFAC requirements.

The SSHO serves as on-site safety authority, has stop-work authority for unsafe conditions, and coordinates with NAVFAC representatives and the Project Manager to ensure contract safety and safe project

Qualifications

• Five years of experience implementing and enforcing safety programs on federal construction projects.
• Three years with CSP credential or a degree in Occupational Safety/Industrial Hygiene or related field.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training (current).
• EM 385-1-1 40-Hour Safety and Health Training (current).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Serve as SSHO with authority to stop work for imminent danger or non-compliance.
• Enforce the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and AHAs for all DFOWs.
• Prepare and update site-specific APPs and AHAs.
• Interface with NAVFAC ROICC and Government Safety personnel.
• Maintain Safety and Occupational Health Deficiency Tracking System and close actions.
• Lead safety orientations, briefings, and trainings for project personnel.
• Ensure workers have required safety training and medical qualifications.
• Document investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
• Maintain accurate injury/illness records and reporting timelines.
