SLS Federal Services Division seeks a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) in Hawaii to implement and enforce the project SOH program for NAVFAC Design‑Build work. The SSHO has authority to stop unsafe work and will coordinate with NAVFAC and the Project Manager throughout the life of the project.

The role requires federal construction safety experience, CSP or safety degree, and current OSHA 30 and EM 385-1-1 training, with strong communication and documentation skills to support government

Qualifications

• Five years of federal construction safety program experience or CSP with a related degree.
• Ability to function as a Competent/Qualified Person for high-risk activities.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training (current).
• EM 385-1-1 40-Hour Safety and Health Training (current).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for formal Government reporting.

Responsabilités

• Serve as SSHO for NAVFAC Design-Build projects in Hawaii, enforcing safety requirements.
• Exercise authority to stop work for imminent danger or non-compliance.
• Implement and enforce the Accident Prevention Plan and AHAs for DFOWs.
• Prepare, review, and update safety plans and submittals.
• Conduct daily safety inspections of all areas, equipment, and operations.
• Maintain SOH Deficiency Tracking System and ensure timely closures.
• Verify subcontractor compliance with APP, AHAs, and contract safety requirements.
• Lead safety orientations, job hazard briefings, and training.
• Confirm workers have required training, certifications, and medical qualifications.
• Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations per EM 385-1-1 and FAR 52.236-13.
• Notify Government of reportable incidents and adhere to reporting timelines.
• Maintain records of injuries, illnesses, property damage, and corrective actions.
