Job summary

SLSCO LTD, through its SLS Federal Services Division, seeks a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support NAVFAC design-build construction projects in Hawaii. The SSHO will implement, enforce, and continuously improve the SOH program in full compliance with EM 385-1-1 and applicable DoD and NAVFAC requirements.

The SSHO will act as the on-site safety authority, with authority to stop work for safety and non-compliance, and will coordinate daily with the Project Manager and NAVFAC personnel

Qualifications

• Experience implementing and enforcing safety programs on federal construction projects.
• Demonstrated ability to function as Competent/Qualified Person for high-risk construction activities.
• Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training.
• Current EM 385-1-1 40-Hour Safety and Health Training.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site SSHO with authority to stop work for unsafe conditions or non-compliance.
• Enforce safety requirements and maintain APP, AHAs, and safety submittals.
• Conduct daily safety and occupational health inspections of all work areas.
• Maintain SOH Deficiency Tracking System and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Verify subcontractor compliance with safety requirements and training.
• Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and report to NAVFAC/government representatives.
• Provide site safety orientations and job hazard briefings for all project personnel.
• Maintain records of injuries, illnesses, property damage, and corrective actions.
