Job summary

C.A.C. Industries in New York City is seeking a Sr. Payroll Manager to oversee end-to-end payroll operations for a heavy/civil contractor.

This on-site role partners with HR, Finance and Legal to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing for a team of about 4. The ideal candidate has a BS in finance or accounting, 7+ years of progressive payroll experience (3+ in a managerial role), and strong CMiC/Sage Timberline experience, CPP designation preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a dedicated manager position, performing all payroll functions.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas, etc.).
• Experience with preparing 940/941 and W-2 forms.
• Experience with union payroll processing, reporting, compliance, audits and union remittance.
• Construction industry background preferred.
• CPP designation is highly desired.
• CMiC construction software and Sage Timberline experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Payroll Processing: Oversee end-to-end payroll process, data input, validation, and distribution.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the payroll team.
• Compliance: Stay up-to-date with payroll laws and implement company policies.
• Audits: Conduct regular audits of payroll data for accuracy.
• Reporting: Generate and analyze payroll reports for cost insights.
• Communication: Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments.
• Technology Integration: Utilize payroll software and implement new tools.
• Benefits Administration: Ensure accurate processing of health insurance and retirement contributions.
• Tax Compliance: Ensure timely submission of payroll taxes and deductions.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify process improvements for payroll operations.
• Reconciliations: Verify payroll records and compensation accuracy.
