Job summary
Shell is hiring an Automation Engineer for the Carson Terminal in Carson, California. The role provides technical expertise in process automation, instrumentation, and electrical systems across the Americas Distribution & Midstream business, with on-site work four days a week and up to 40% travel.
Responsibilities include troubleshooting automation and control systems, supporting reliability improvements, and coordinating with Operations and Maintenance.
Qualifications
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in automation, controls, instrumentation, electrical engineering, or facility engineering roles.
Responsibilities
- Safe, reliable operation of automation, control, and instrumentation systems.
- Troubleshoot PACO and electrical system issues; provide technical support.
- Deliver threat mitigation, operational improvements, and project support.
- Apply ACE standards and process control principles consistently.
- Support automation, digitalization, and reliability initiatives regionally.
- Lead design reviews, commissioning, FAT/SAT activities, and project support.
