Job summary

Global Technical Talent is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for a 12-month contract in Fremont, CA. The role focuses on design, programming, installation, startup and troubleshooting of automated industrial control systems in chemical plant environments.

The candidate should have deep process automation knowledge (DCS/PLC/SCADA), SIL/LOPA familiarity, and strong experience with Siemens, Rockwell, and Emerson HMIs. Onsite work with hazardous materials handling is expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
10 years of relevant engineering experience in chemical plants.
Experience with PLC/DCS programming for chemical processes.
Familiarity with SIL design and LOPA concepts.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and support plant control system hardware, software, and field instrumentation efficiently and safely.
Troubleshoot control system hardware and software and implement corrective actions independently.
Actively participates in Design Reviews and PHAs as a team member or leader for PLC, DCS, and SCADA control system configuration and programming.
Working with highly hazardous chemicals at a manufacturing facility.
Responsible for establishing engineering design basis and assisting with design documentation (e.g., PFDs, PIDs, equipment and instrument specification sheets, process package, MOC, interlock matrix, functional design specification) for both new and existing facilities while following department standards.
Capable of assisting with loop tests and interlock tests performed for new processes and for yearly ISO testing for calibration and interlock checks.
Completes all assigned training and tasks.
Understanding of electrical distribution and power loading in industrial control systems.
