Job summary

OBR Management is seeking a Safety Specialist to oversee and enforce safety on active construction projects nationwide, focusing on OSHA compliance, hazard mitigation, and incident investigations.

The role collaborates with Safety Manager, site leaders, and client EH&S teams, conducts audits, leads on-site safety meetings, and drives continuous safety improvements. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in occupational health and safety or related field.
• OSHA 500, CSHO, CHST or STS-C certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Stay current on state and federal occupational safety regulations, including OSHA 29 CFR 1020 and 1926, and apply expertise on job sites.
• Identify and mitigate workplace health and safety hazards.
• Support project teams with safe work processes (JSAs, THAs, Safe Work Procedures).
• Enforce OBR safety policies and procedures at job sites.
• Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency situations.
• Maintain safety documentation and records.
• Monitor and investigate near-miss incidents.
• Conduct internal and customer-site safety audits/inspections and participate in incident investigations.
• Collaborate with Safety Manager and leadership to analyze trends and implement corrective actions.
• Lead and organize on-site safety meetings; ensure personnel compliance.
• Provide safety expertise to employees, subcontractors, and clients throughout projects.
• Serve as primary contact for risk and safety program administration.
• Assist in executing OBR’s overall risk and safety strategy.
• Pursue ongoing professional safety training and education.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
