Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site inspector to support highway construction projects across multiple locations. You will perform routine inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, and construction methods, and ensure compliance with project specs under supervision.

The role requires reading plans, basic math, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. A valid driver’s license and 2 years of related experience are preferred, with travel often required to meet project needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or national entity may be required by client or jurisdiction.
• Valid driver’s license and travel may be required.
• 2 years of related inspection experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review daily contractor reports and verify adherence to Quality Control plans and procedures.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract; measure quantities and sample soil, base, concrete, and asphalt as needed.
