Job summary

Wellstar Health System in the United States seeks a Nurse Team Leader for on-site Utilization Management to oversee UM RNs and coordinate care across acute, chronic and long-term stages. You will drive collaboration between clinicians, ensure documentation meets regulatory standards, and lead the department's training and process improvements.

As the primary UM liaison on the clinical floor, you will facilitate real-time decisions, support hospital throughput, and supervise staff to uphold

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care with Manager, Director and other Healthcare Team Leaders.
• Oversee daily staffing and work distribution based on levels and demands.
• Monitor staff productivity and denial ratios; manage Epic WQs and reporting.
• Provide training, supervision, and mentoring for UM staff and students.
• Head a team of peers to participate in the interviewing process with Directors.
• Lead QA and PI activities and support performance evaluations.
• Initiate assessments for necessity using screening criteria (e.g., MCG).
• Deliver legally required documents in person (e.g., MOON, condition-code 44).
• Identify and escalate avoidable hospital days to minimize financial loss.
