Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to safely use brick saw and bricklaying equipment.
• Requires working knowledge of refractory lined units.
• Ability to operate a jib crane and ensure the rigging of the load is correct.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.
• Ability to safely operate various hand and electrical tools.
• Ability to read, understand and work in conformity with work orders, as directed.
• Ability to detect and correct unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment.

Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting refractory lining drawings; use brick saw and equipment to lay brick in ladles, furnaces, tundishes; assist with installation procedures.
• Assisting customer staff with refractory installation methods (gunite, pouring, ramming, pumping, ceramic fiber, firebrick).
• Assisting with cleaning/prepping ladles, furnaces, tundishes for repair/relining.
• Observing product performance at site; performing inspections and documenting findings.
• Working with customers to understand requirements and aid optimal product performance; monitor stock levels and place replacement orders.
• Preventive and general maintenance tasks on refractory equipment; document maintenance.
• Performing spare parts and equipment inventory counts and reporting.
• Observing and promoting safety and 5S standards; following safety policies and daily toolbox talks.
