Job summary

Winpak in South Chicago Heights, Illinois is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Maintenance team. You will lead projects involving the design, development, automation, and improvement of extrusion systems, thermoforming equipment, and plant utilities.

This mid-level role reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager; you will manage projects from concept to implementation, coordinating with production, maintenance, contractors, and equipment vendors.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of project management experience in manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of extrusion and thermoforming processes.
• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project and AutoCAD.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital and process-improvement projects from concept through installation, on schedule and within budget.
• Confirm designs meet specifications, are manufacturable, safe, and cost-effective.
• Coordinate fabrication, assembly, testing and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Develop processes to improve productivity, quality and process capability.
• Coordinate outside contractors and ensure site requirements are met.
• Monitor budgets and project spending; prepare capital requests as needed.
• Promote safety; ensure compliance with GMP and food-packaging standards.
