Job summary

Zohorecruit in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the Project Construction Manager on an on-site project through June 2028. The Project Engineer will act as Owner’s Representative, reviewing schedules, cost estimates, design documents, and technical submissions to facilitate informed decisions.

A mechanical engineering background is preferred, with strong communication and coordination skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is REQUIRED.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering, construction, or project management experience.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Experience with project schedules, cost estimates, and construction planning.
• Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Mechanical Engineering background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Construction Manager throughout the planning, procurement, and construction phases.
• Serve as a technical resource and Owner’s Representative to support informed project decisions.
• Review and update project schedules, monitor progress, and evaluate cost estimates.
• Conduct constructability reviews to identify design conflicts, coordination issues, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform and coordinate technical reviews of design documents, specifications, equipment selections, and material submittals.
• Review contractor proposals, RFIs, and change requests for compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure technical work complies with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, designers, consultants, project managers, and other stakeholders while identifying and supporting the resolution of project risks and issues.
