Job summary

Unknown Healthcare Provider in Fredericksburg, VA seeks a Phlebotomist for a contract role (3 months) with potential for permanent placement. Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen labeling, and proper handling of samples while adhering to regulations.

The ideal candidate has a Phlebotomy certification, at least 6 months of venipuncture experience, and strong Microsoft Office skills. On-site role with benefits available.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Minimum 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance and decontamination data.
• Update patient information as needed.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Follow physicians' orders and match requisitions to tubes.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity during transport.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual trainings.
