Job summary

CarePlus NJ, Inc. is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist for the Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Center in Paramus, NJ.

The role focuses on leveraging personal recovery experiences to support clients and collaborate with Case Managers, Clinicians, and Prescribers to craft individualized recovery plans. You will engage clients, provide crisis support, and help connect them with community resources while documenting appropriately.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in behavioral health setting preferred.
• Current CPR/AED (BLS) certification required.
• Must possess or pursue CPRS/NCPRSS from start of hire and obtain within 6 months.
• Valid driver’s license required and must be insurable by agency's automobile insurance for primary drivers.

Responsibilities

• Engage clients with collaborative, caring relationships during orientation.
• Maintain group and individual supportive interactions with clients, families, and social supports.
• Communicate effectively using personal recovery story to build authentic peer relationships.
• Provide recovery support by aiding clients in managing crises and pursuing community roles.
• Celebrate clients' efforts and accomplishments in their recovery journey.
• Share lived recovery experience to support health, wellness, and ongoing recovery.
• Provide linkages to services and community resources.
• Complete required documentation in a timely manner using recovery‑oriented language.
