Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated in Apex, NC is seeking an Operating Engineer to support the operation, inspection, and maintenance of critical building systems across a multi-building portfolio in the Raleigh/Apex Metro area.

This role requires hands-on experience with UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC, and CMMS/BMS, along with safety training and a proactive problem-solving mindset. Join a collaborative team focused on reliable performance and technical growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years operating and maintaining critical infrastructure.
• Experience with UPS, emergency generators, switchgear, and chiller plants preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on building systems (fire/life safety, HVAC, plumbing, controls, hot water).
• Operate and maintain electrical systems including emergency backup (lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators).
• Monitor, adjust, and maintain refrigeration/air conditioning equipment and pumps; record readings and adjust as needed.
• Analyze system operation, identify causes of problems, and take corrective action.
• Manage work orders with CMMS; coordinate with vendors and communicate with stakeholders.
