Job summary

HEI Hotels & Resorts in New York City seeks a Chief Engineer to oversee all property maintenance, life safety, and utility systems. This role leads the engineering team, manages preventive programs, and ensures compliance with corporate standards and local codes.

The Chief Engineer will supervise repairs, coordinate capital projects, and maintain records and budgets while prioritizing safety, guest comfort, and operational efficiency. On-site leadership is required at the New York City property.

Qualifications

• Vocational schooling, military training, certification and/or experience in building related trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry).
• 3+ years of hands-on experience at a comparable location.
• Hotel experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hotel operations, security and safety programs, and budget concepts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise preventive maintenance, repairs, and life safety systems.
• Manage engineering staff, assign tasks, and monitor performance.
• Maintain accurate records for RM and PM programs and capital projects.
• Ensure safe, clean, energy-efficient engineering spaces and equipment.
