Job summary

Rush Truck Centers in Texas is seeking an experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our fleet at client locations, providing on-site service and expediting expertise directly to trucks and equipment. Tenured, certified technicians are encouraged to apply and join a nationwide network of dealerships.

The role requires maintaining equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and communicating with customers about needed repairs, with after-hours availability and a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by the FMVS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability is a must.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with fuel, checking oil, keeping it clean, and ensuring inspections are performed and documented.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and for keeping the vehicle properly stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned duties daily.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
• Read job orders and observe vehicle operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to determine malfunctions and perform correct repair procedures.
• Diagnosis, removal and replacement of injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, bearings, and other parts.
• Perform all necessary diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding the work and foster positive customer relations.
