Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with five years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead roles, OR
• Bachelor's degree in a technical mining discipline with at least one summer internship in mining/industrial environment
• Additional certifications or licensure related to the job may be required
• Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
• Budget preparation, monitoring and administration
• Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral

Responsibilities

• Assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff for the assigned work unit
• Implements production plans according to the approved schedule
• May participate in a full range of daily operational duties and perform the most difficult tasks
• Inspects and evaluates work in progress, identifies issues and directs remedial action
• Conducts performance evaluations on subordinate staff
• Prepares estimates of staffing, materials and equipment for projected activities
• Maintains inventory of parts and materials
• Approves purchases of materials and equipment
• Maintains time, materials and equipment use reports
• Requisitions tools, supplies, materials and equipment
• Trains staff in safety procedures
• Maintains safety data sheets for crews
• Performs other duties as required
