Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) invites applications for a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Idaho Falls. You will support mechanical design and glovebox projects, performing design, fabrication, drawing creation, P&ID updates, piping design calculations, and installation drawings to aid facility upgrades.

The role requires enrollment as a junior/senior in a mechanical engineering program, a 3.0+ GPA, and U.S. work authorization (including CPT/OPT).

Qualifications

• GPA of 3.0 or higher in an accredited mechanical engineering program.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. (including CPT/OPT).
• Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360, Creo, NX, etc.).
• Familiarity with P&IDs.
• Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T).
• Resume or CV.
• Unofficial transcripts (current and completed).
• Current class schedule and credits.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical design and glovebox projects, including design and fabrication, drawing creation, P&ID updates, piping design and calculations, and installation/removal drawings.
• Work under a Senior Manager in MFC Mechanical Design & Reliability Engineering, on a 4x10 on-site schedule.
• Assist with facility upgrades and project documentation.
