Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) invites applications for the Nuclear Remote Design Intern - Summer 2027 in Idaho Falls. The role involves hands-on design of remotely operated systems for hot cells, with responsibilities from concept to fabrication and testing.

You’ll work with experienced engineers in a mission-driven environment. The internship follows a 4x10 on-site schedule at the Materials and Fuels Complex and may offer course credit; salary ranges by degree level are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of full-time enrollment in an accredited Engineering graduate program (Mechanical, Nuclear, Materials Science, or Electrical).
• Minimum overall GPA 3.0.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT).
• Current Resume or CV and unofficial transcripts, plus current class schedule and credits.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and developing remotely operated systems for hot cells.
• Participate in conceptual design, mock-up reviews, and redlining engineering drafts.
• Oversee fabrication and test components for optimal performance.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers on remote handling technologies.
