Job summary

Amsted Rail in Granite City, IL is seeking an Engineering Co-Op to join our Granite City team. This role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, collaborating with engineers, maintenance professionals, machinists, and production teams on real-world projects that impact daily operations.

Students majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Available to work approximately 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during summer and winter breaks.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering and manufacturing improvement projects
• Create and revise CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation
• Assist with CNC programming, tooling, and process development
• Help design fixtures, workholding, and production solutions
• Analyze production data using Excel and other software tools
• Assist with equipment troubleshooting and process improvements
• Follow all plant safety and environmental requirements
