Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an On-Site Mechanical Engineer for a project near Baton Rouge, LA. This role requires leading field coordination between construction and design teams to ensure flawless installation and commissioning of critical mechanical infrastructure.

The candidate should have 10+ years in mechanical design, construction, or operations (or 5+ years in hyperscale data centers), with strong knowledge of chilled water systems and ISA/industry standards. On-site attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years in mechanical design, construction, commissioning, or operations; or 5+ years in hyperscale data center environments.
• Experience with chilled water systems and mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of specifications, codes, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site representative for HVAC, piping, and mechanical systems.
• Conduct daily site observations and assess progress.
• Coordinate design clarifications with engineering and construction teams.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, equipment substitutions, and field coordination.
• Support startup activities and commissioning preparation.
• Attend meetings and provide technical guidance on mechanical systems.
• Issue weekly reports noting observations, risks, corrective actions.
