Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an On-Site Mechanical Engineer for a project near Baton Rouge, LA. The role involves acting as the field representative for mechanical systems, coordinating between construction and the engineering design team, and supporting installation, issue resolution, quality reviews, and commissioning preparation.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in mechanical design, construction, commissioning, or operations, or 5+ years in hyperscale data centers, with expertise in chilled water

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years in mechanical design, construction, commissioning, or operations; or 5+ years in hyperscale data centers.
• Experience with chilled water, cooling plants, CRAH/CRAC, piping, and mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with construction and design teams to resolve field issues.
• Support installation, testing, commissioning preparation, and startup activities.
• Review equipment layouts and utility routing; coordinate subs and trades.
• Attend meetings and provide technical guidance on mechanical systems.
• Issue weekly reports on observations, risks, and corrective actions.
