Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an On-Site Mechanical Engineer for a Baton Rouge project. You will serve as the field representative for mechanical systems, coordinating between construction and design teams to ensure safe, on-schedule delivery of critical infrastructure.

With 10+ years in mechanical design, construction, commissioning, or operations (or 5+ years in hyperscale data centers), you will assess field conditions, review layouts, support testing and commissioning, and provide practical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years in mechanical design/construction/commissioning/operations, or 5+ years in hyperscale data centers.
• Experience with HVAC, piping, CRAH/CRAC systems in critical facilities.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site representative for mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with construction and design teams.
• Review installation progress and workmanship.
• Respond to RFIs and submittals.
• Support equipment layouts and utility routing.
• Participate in BIM coordination and mockups.
• Document installation deficiencies and improvement opportunities.
• Support testing, startup and commissioning preparations.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and commissioning teams.
• Attend meetings and provide technical guidance.
• Issue weekly reports on observations, risks, and schedule impacts.
• Identify design, quality and schedule risks and assist resolution.
