Job summary

National Vacuum Equipment, located in Traverse City, Michigan, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the engineering team. The role focuses on designing and improving rotary vane pumps and rotary lobe blowers, creating CAD models and GD&T drawings, and driving projects to completion on the manufacturing floor.

You will work closely with production and sourcing to implement DFM practices, validate designs through tests, and manage projects across the product lifecycle while coordinating

Qualifications

• 3+ years of manufacturing design experience.
• Sheet metal fabrication experience is a plus.
• DFM (Design for Manufacture) experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects to create and improve designs for rotary vane pumps and rotary blowers.
• Analyze and test designs for efficiency, functionality and durability.
• Prepare CAD models and production drawings (GD&T).
• Support manufacturing to implement improvements and drive projects to completion.
• Coordinate experiments and evaluations to validate product improvements.
• Manage product lifecycle and collaborate with vendors as needed.
