Job summary

George Speers Masonry LLC, a Tallahassee-based commercial masonry contractor, seeks a Masonry Estimator to review plans, perform takeoffs, and prepare budgets and bids for CMU, brick and stone veneer projects. Qualifications

Strong knowledge of masonry systems, ability to interpret drawings and specs.
Experience with brickwork and stonework on commercial/public projects.
Background in renovation or retrofit masonry work and assessing existing conditions.
Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools.
Understanding of CMU, reinforced and fully grouted masonry systems, and concrete pumping coordination.
Ability to read architectural, structural, and civil plans; solid math and measurement skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to raise issues clearly early.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; manage multiple bids and deadlines.
Familiarity with commercial construction practices, safety standards, and preconstruction workflows.
Relevant masonry estimating experience; training/education in construction management/engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

Review plans and specifications to prepare accurate budgets and bids.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for CMU, load-bearing masonry, and veneer.
Coordinate with project managers and field supervisors on scope and changes.
Communicate with general contractors and owners regarding clarifications and changes.
Assess constructability and identify risks; propose value-engineering options.
Maintain organized bid documentation and support preconstruction planning.
Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
