Job summary

IronRoad is seeking an experienced Commercial Masonry Estimator to join our team in Columbus, Ohio, supporting statewide projects. You will lead pre-construction efforts, generate precise estimates, and coordinate with clients and subcontractors to deliver high-quality bids.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in commercial masonry estimating, a track record on $4M-$5M projects, and strong knowledge of brick, CMU, decorative CMU, and veneer, with proficiency in Tradesman or similar software.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of dedicated commercial masonry estimating experience.
• Proven track record estimating $4M-$5M commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of Brick, CMU, Decorative CMU, Architectural Precast / Cast Stone, and Stone Veneer.
• Hands-on experience with Tradesman estimation software (or similar).
• Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and translate complex blueprints and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Review bid documents and perform material take-offs, labor estimates, and overall project costs.
• Prepare accurate estimates ahead of project deadlines to ensure competitive bids.
• Vet subcontractor bids to define clear scopes of work and pricing.
• Submit RFIs to architects, engineers, and clients to mitigate risks early.
• Map project lifecycle from conception to completion and anticipate field needs.

About the Opportunity

IronRoad is conducting a confidential search for a Commercial Masonry Estimator (10+ years' experience) to join our client's growing team in Columbus, Ohio, and supporting our clients' other locations throughout Ohio. Our client is a well-established, premier commercial masonry contractor known across Ohio for delivering high-quality, large-scale projects. In this pivotal role, you will be the backbone of the pre-construction phase-driving projects from conception to completion through meticulous planning, precise estimation, and strategic execution. Key Responsibilities

• Blueprint & Document Analysis: Obtain and thoroughly review all bid documents. Interpret blueprints, specifications, and addendums to prepare precise material take-offs, labor estimates, and overall project costs using Tradesman estimation software.
• Bid Precision & Timeline Management: Complete all estimates with high accuracy, ensuring competitive and profitable bids are submitted strictly ahead of project deadlines.
• Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination: Vet subcontractor bids to ensure accurate pricing and clearly defined scopes of work.
• Proactive Problem Solving: Identify potential project discrepancies or missing information in bid documents. Formulate and submit RFIs to architects, engineers, and clients to mitigate risks early.
• Project Lifecycle Mapping: Leverage your deep understanding of various drawing stages and structural concepts to foresee project needs and potential field challenges.

Qualifications

• Experience:10+ years of dedicated commercial masonry estimating experience.
• Project Portfolio: A proven track record of successfully estimating $4M to $5M commercial masonry projects.
• Material Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of Brick, CMU, Decorative CMU, Architectural Precast / Cast Stone, and Natural / Synthetic Stone Veneer.
• Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Tradesman estimation software (or similar industry-standard take-off software) is highly preferred.
• Blueprint Literacy: Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and translate complex blueprints, structural drawings, and architectural specifications.
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills with a natural ability to plan ahead and collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, and other trades.
