Job summary

Taurus Engineering, Inc. in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to support the Purchasing department in buying materials, components, and services for manufacturing operations.

You will process purchase orders, follow up with vendors, track deliveries, and keep records accurate to ensure production has what it needs when it needs it. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, with 2–4 years in purchasing or supply chain, proficient in Excel, and able to read simple

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or a related role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, basic formulas).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication with vendors and internal teams.
• Ability to read basic engineering drawings or material specifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain purchase orders in the ERP system per requisitions.
• Request and compare quotes from suppliers on pricing, lead time, and terms.
• Follow up with vendors on order confirmations and delivery dates.
• Coordinate with Receiving, Quality, and Production to resolve discrepancies.
• Match POs, receiving documents, and invoices; resolve billing issues.
• Track open orders and provide status reports to Purchasing Manager.
• Source alternative suppliers for raw materials, machined components, and MRO.
• Monitor stock levels and flag reorder needs.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
• Assist with researching new materials, products, and suppliers.
