Job summary

Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician for on-site work in Flandreau, SD. You will perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and grounds maintenance across FSST rental units and facilities.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, move-in/out inspections, and safety checks. A South Dakota license, relevant certifications or experience, and ability to pass background and drug tests are required, with on-call duties every fourth weekend.

Qualifications

• South Dakota license and insurable.
• Certification in carpentry, electrical, plumbing or at least 3 years’ experience working in residential property maintenance preferred.
• Must pass P.L. 101-630 background check.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Available for on-call duty every fourth weekend or as directed by the Director.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and rehabilitation for FSST rental units, buildings, and grounds.
• Carpentry repairs to partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, roofs, and shelves.
• Glazier tasks including replacing windows, hardware, and light fixtures.
• Electrical repairs for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, appliances, and lighting systems; report unsafe conditions.
• Plumbing repairs for leaks or breaks; maintain drinking fountains; repair water heaters and appliances.
• Painting surfaces and graffiti removal; ground maintenance including mowing, trimming, weeding, and lawn care.
• Maintenance of tribal roadways, snow plowing, and elder parking areas; move-in/move-out support and annual inspections.
• Maintain upkeep of vehicles and power equipment; ensure safety hazards are addressed.
