Job summary

University at Buffalo seeks a Maintenance Supervisor 1 in Residential Maintenance Services. You will supervise a multi-trades team engaged in maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and construction activities across campus facilities.

Responsibilities include assigning duties, scheduling work, reviewing job orders and plans, coordinating with other trades, and ensuring compliance with codes, safety standards, and project schedules.

Qualifications

• One year of skilled trade experience in mechanical, electrical, building, or related trades.
• Preferred experience in a college/university housing setting with supervision.
• A valid NYS driver's license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a working supervisor for designated staff.
• Assign duties and schedule work to ensure effective utilization of staff, materials, and equipment.
• Complete administrative tasks including payroll, procurement, and performance management.
• Supervises and plans the work for subordinate staff.
• Reviews job orders, blueprints, and specifications; visits project sites as needed to determine dimensions, materials, and labor.
• Prepares rough sketches or plans to scale from instructions.
• Coordinates with other trades to complete projects on schedule.
• Inspects work to ensure compliance with codes, safety, and plans.
• Inspects external contractors' work for conformance with project specifications.
• Maintains written records of work performed and materials used.
• Evaluates the work performance of subordinate employees.
• Works within purchasing guidelines and budget constraints.
