Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
• Two years full-time, wage-earning experience in the supervision of employees.
• Knowledge of procedures, methods, and standards for general maintenance and construction.
• Skill to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff and inmates assigned to general maintenance of physical plant; plans, schedules and coordinates maintenance and/or new construction activity.
• Evaluates maintenance needs and determines best method of repair or installation; outlines and directs a preventive maintenance program.
• Assists in preparation of budget estimates; maintains records and conducts correspondence related to work; maintains special security for all tools, equipment, chemicals, etc. which may be used as weapons.
• Assigns, supervises and evaluates work of employees and inmates; directs inmate apprenticeship training program in occupational areas; submits performance reports on employees and inmates.
• Submits performance reports on employees and inmates; maintains discipline and enforces security measures.
• Performs related duties as required
