Job summary

Alter Trading Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor at our Rockford, IL location to lead maintenance of mobile equipment, machinery, and facilities. You will manage parts inventory, coordinate contractors, and drive preventative maintenance programs while promoting plant safety.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of maintenance leadership, hydraulic and electrical understanding, welding capability, and experience with low-voltage circuits.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years leading a maintenance function.
• Hydraulic and electrical understanding.
• DOT knowledge, preferred.
• Diesel power over hydraulic experience, preferred.
• Two-year AAS or technical certification in welding, hydraulics, electrical systems or industrial mechanics preferred.
• Ability to weld and fabricate work, preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting low voltage circuitry – 24V; 12V; or 10V.
• Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with heavy mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders, and material separators a plus.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Direct and participate in maintenance and repair of mobile equipment, shear and facilities, electrical repair.
• Manage parts inventory and repairs for mobile equipment.
• Coordinate with contractors for stationary shear and other tasks; track equipment status.
• Oversee maintenance programs, troubleshooting, and hands-on maintenance work.
• Promote plant safety programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide mechanical expertise to reduce equipment downtime and improve reliability.
• Document equipment status and communicate updates to leadership.
• Work with vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective services.
