Job summary

QPS Employment Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician for a Rockford, IL company. Salary ranges from $52,000 to $70,720 per year, with a 1st shift schedule, 6:00am-2:30pm, in Rockford, IL. This is a direct hire position.

Responsibilities include safe operations, plumbing, electrical work up to 480VAC, machinery maintenance, CNC troubleshooting, and equipment repair. OSHA/EHS compliance and using hand/power tools are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Electrical and mechanical aptitude and skills are essential.
  • Ability to read, write and process all instructions.
  • Ability to understand and complete assignments using basic principles of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and electronics.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform job duties safely and in accordance with company EHS policies.
  • Perform plumbing, basic carpentry, pipe bending, and electrical work.
  • Move and install production and building equipment.
  • Utilize and maintain hand and power tools.
  • Detect and correct safety hazards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Contact vendors as needed.
  • Utilize assembly drawings and machine manuals as needed.
  • Use various skillsets to troubleshoot and repair all production equipment.
  • Repair mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and systems.
  • Perform plumbing, fabrication and electrical work ranging from 0-480VAC.
  • Utilize test equipment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repair of CNC equipment.
  • Handle hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Drive forklifts and company vehicles as needed.
  • Use PC as needed.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove and replace defective parts.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments as needed.
  • Lubricate and clean parts as needed.
  • Start and test devices for operational efficiencies.
  • Set up and operate drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Make emergency repairs when necessary to offset excessive downtime and production delays.
  • Observe and comply with safety precautions and lockout procedures, especially when high voltage is involved.
  • Use appropriate test instruments, gear and equipment to test and insure compatibility and safety of all circuits, line components, switches, controls, etc., to assure performance, quality and operations.
  • Proceed on assignments with minimum supervision and guidance; repair and align mechanical devices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair inoperative, intermittent operating, or malfunctioning equipment and systems.
  • Modify existing malfunctioning mechanical and electronic machinery, using innovative techniques to quickly bring equipment to an acceptable operating level.
  • Order spare parts.
  • Understand and manipulate equipment without assistance.
  • Develop and maintain human relations skills to encourage open, cooperative and effective relationships within the team and throughout the organization.
  • Lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts bringing improvement ideas and results.

Requirements
  • Electrical and mechanical aptitude and skills are essential.
  • Ability to read, write and process all instructions.
  • Ability to understand and complete assignments using the basic principles of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and electronics.
  • Ability to plan logical sequences, analyze problems and implement diversified repairs, modifications or maintenance to correct the situation.
  • Ability to analyze and think under pressure regarding manufacturing maintenance or repair requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Understanding ladder diagrams, PLC and N/C/CNC interaction is a plus.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift license and operate aerial and scissor lifts is mandatory.
  • Ability to weld and fabricate as needed.
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
