Seattle Colleges seeks two Maintenance Mechanic 2s in the Facilities Department for a full‑time, non‑permanent 18‑month assignment. Work is on-site, 40 hours/week, typically 8am–4:30pm, with opportunity to transition to regular status. The role supports HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related trades under supervision, within a union environment.

Applicants should have 4+ years of relevant experience or an apprenticeship. WFSE representation applies, and relocation is not indicated.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade.
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and structural systems of buildings.
• Installs HVAC systems or components according to specifications and standards.
• Maintains safety, fire protection, and environmental control equipment; responds to service requests.
• Collaborates with others to complete projects within budget and schedule.
• Operates hand and power tools; performs welding and metal fabrication.
• Remodels and constructs facilities as needed; assists in engineering data preparation.
• Repairs windows, doors, floors and painted surfaces; maintains electrical connections and thermostats.
